Strength Training
For some people (E.g. those with a low basal/resting metabolic rate) strength training may also help improve your metabolism.
Focusing on larger muscle groups is an effective way to achieve good general strength improvement in minimal time. Some suggestions for strength training exercises are:
- Leg press
- Squats, lunges and other body weight resistance type exercises
- Pump classes
- Pilates & core strength exercises
If you are doing some of your interval sessions on a bike with high resistance for the interval, you are getting a good strengthening effect from these also.
! Do not combining Interval Sessions with Strength Sessions. Interval sessions should always be done on fresh legs.
